A visit to LUSH's new store in Marion

I was recently invited to have an after-hours look at the new LUSH store that has opened at Westfield Marion and decided to check it out with my friend Alyssium Baby.  I was pretty keen to see the new store as it's been a while since visiting LUSH - the only store we had prior to his was based in the CBD and it's a bit small and often super packed.

I had a lot of fun snapping photos of their vibrant bath bombs, they just show up so beautifully in photos but I decided against posting a hundred photos of bath bombs at different angles!  I've only tried one of their bath bombs a fair while ago but I often hear people raving about them so I picked up Butterball to try for myself at home (and then remembered I don't have a bath tub, derp, so my feet will be enjoying a very luscious foot bath).

Here's a shot that shows the new Granny Takes a Dip bath bomb which I thought was awesome and looks like a cross-section of a gobstopper.  Our host, Kanya, welcomed us and gave us a run down of LUSH's background, their values and their range.  We were then we were shown some demonstrations of a few different products by the stores staff.

First up we were shown the Massage Bars which is a product I love.  I will admit, they are a bit on the pricier range considering how many uses you will get out of them but they're a nice little pamper product.  My favourite is the Shimmy Shimmy massage bar which I've used before and leaves a very twilight-esque glitter to your skin.  I also fell in love with the smell of the Pearl massage bar which I grabbed and may possibly review later.  The Soft Coeur massage bar is also another favourite, it smells like a decadent dessert (you can see it peeking out on the left hand side).

We then went over to the Skin care section to have a look at the Angels on Bare Skin cleanser being made.  As you may know, I'm more of an Asian Skin Care lover and I've got very few non-AB products on my routine but I do rate their Cupcake face mask quite highly - it smells great and really helped my skin during a rough time where I experienced a combo of nasty acne + over-exfoliation.

That said, I honestly can't say I'd recommend the Angels on Bare Skin cleanser for use on the face.  I was given a sample of this to try and one of the main ingredients is ground almonds.  Although they're milled quite finely, testing this on my hand was quite abrasive so I believe it would be a little too damaging for the skin on your face.  I am saving mine for exfoliating my legs after shaving once this winter finally ends!

I also had a great chat with some of the staff there who were very friendly.  Josh, in particular, was a great conversationalist and spoke quite passionately yet rationally about a number of issues such as environmental concerns, fair trade and animal cruelty.

I was given the opportunity to take a product home as thanks for coming out and joining them which was nice of them.  I knew just what I'd pick out, of course, it was the Honey I Washed The Kids shower gel.  This range is one of my favourite scents, it's a kind of rich butterscotch-like honey fragrance that I never get tired of.  I was also gifted a few mini products and a Dream Cream which sounds interesting.  So I'll be having a bit of a try of these products over the next few weeks and let you know what I think of them!

All in all, it was a good time, the new shop is quite well plotted out and the new staff are very friendly.  Whilst there's nothing wrong with the CBD store, I'd recommend visiting the new Marion shop if you're in the area as I feel you'll be able to get a good chance to browse the products and get a good look/smell/feel of some goodies without feeling cramped or rushed.  Thanks for reading!

  2. It's a long time coming for Lush to open up a store in Marion! Good choice of place, really hehe. I don't fancy walking into the cbd shop as I, too, felt the whole ambience to be too cramping for such a tiny store. I bet the Marion store is bigger the CBD, Lauren? Love all your shots & your pick too xx

    1. I agree, it's good they've expanded a bit because I felt a bit cramped in the CBD store too! The Marion store is similar in size, perhaps a bit bigger but the layout is a lot better in my opinion - you can get a good look at everything without feeling too pressured! Thanks Hana <3
