Triss Merigold inspired FOTD

Video Games are one of my favourite things in the world, I've been playing them a lot ever since I could walk on my own two feet! Naturally I love to combine my interest in games with my interest in Makeup.  Unfortunately it's hard to find a lot of games that have good makeup examples (in my opinion).  A lot of characters from games I love tend to have pretty plain faces and their design is built around their hairstyle and clothing.

I recently played The Witcher 3 which has been one of the best games I've played in a long time.  I was really impressed with the detail on so many characters faces.  Triss is a sorceress and like many other sorceresses, they use magic to keep a quite youthful and pretty visage.  One thing I really loved was that Triss didn't have that super flawless complexion that so many video game ladies are designed with.  Triss has freckles, sun damaged skin and wrinkles (you know, like how some real people apparently have), so to make a character that's still designed to be pretty yet also human was so refreshing for me to see since growing up with freckles was not super fun.

FOTD - A few of my favourite things

Lately I've been feeling like I've lost my groove when it comes to doing my makeup.  I've kept things pretty minimal for the past few months that when I recently whipped out some eyeliner to do a bold winged look, it really fell short and I was pretty bummed out.

I've been practicing a bit more this week to try and get back into the swing of things because really, doing your makeup is like any other activity, you've gotta constantly stay on it and hone your skills!  It's also been some time since I've done a face of the day post so I brought out some of my favourite products to encourage me to get back into it.

Bridal Makeup and some Tips and Resources I found for Wedding Makeup

A friend of mine is getting married later this year and, naturally, the part I'm most curious about is the makeup!  It got me thinking about Bridal makeup because it's not something I'd ever researched or looked into and I thought I'd give it a try myself.  I noticed that Bridal makeup isn't too different from a lot of everyday makeup, it's just a bit more amped up.  I decided to go with something that didn't sacrifice my style but instead just tuned things up a bit.

Quick FOTD with Low-End only Products

Recently my camera was out of commission but I did a FOTD that I really liked so I tried my best (and kinda failed) to capture it on my phone's camera.  In my recent attempt at trying to use my products a bit differently and inspired by a "touch of gold" theme, I went for a bit of a different look to what I normally do.

Korean Beauty Paradise in Adelaide

So I've been getting pretty heavy into Korean beauty products this year, in particular skin care and face masks rather than just make up products.  I'd been a bit envious of some of the stores some people have in their local cities and set out to try and find something in Adelaide.   We have a Japanese Cosmetics store called Kawaii fashion, a limited range of some Tony Moly, Etude House and a few other brands at Morning Glory but I'd read that apparently Shisi had a new range of cosmetics.

FOTD Challenge with sample products

I had a lot of fun with my Asian Beauty FOTD challenge last week and decided to try and choose more themes to encourage my use of different products.  I've accumulated a lot of samples both sachets and deluxe sized ones and wanted to try just using them to create a whole look.

Halloween look - Reason to become a Witch

NS Yoon-G's Reason to become a Witch has been in my head all halloween and my inspiration to try and create a witchy look.  In the end, I just turned myself into a goth again because why not, black and purple are the best colours in the world (yeah yeah black's a shade, shhh)!

Video Game Makeup - Lulu (Final Fantasy X)

Following on from my Eir Stegalkin look, for my second video game look, I decided to go with Lulu from Final Fantasy X.  She has gorgeous makeup and very intriguing eyes, I'm also a big fan of purple so it was only a matter of time before I attempted this look.

Video Game Makeup - Eir Stegalkin (Guild Wars 2)

I love video games, it's no lie.  I've been playing them for as long as I can remember and they've been such great fun!  I don't know why it took so long for me to consider combining my love of video games and makeup together but I've decided to try and recreate some looks that I've seen across games I've played.  I have a few in mind but my first choice was Eir Stegalkin from Guild Wars 2.

She's pretty awesome right?  I was drawn in by her awesome tattoos and loved the idea of doing a war-paint look and also to start off with something that wasn't too challenging either.

Femme Fatale review, swatches + FOTD

Hehe, I know I know another review type post but I really wanted to do this one soon!  I recently made an order from Femme Fatale Cosmetics who are based in Australia.  I believe they may be more known for their unique nail polishes but I love their eyeshadows too, they have a large range of colours and are very affordable.

Mascarateer x Milkamenthe - Coordinate Collaboration

Today is a special post and I'm very excited for it.  My friend Lindzi from Milkamenthe and I have decided to do monthly posts combining our blog topics, makeup and Lolita fashion.

Lindzi and I met through Lolita fashion and she has been a great style inspiration for me.  The challenge for me though is that our styles are somewhat different, particularly when it comes to my makeup choices.  Lindzi really suits pastels and sweet style so I tried to go for a look with soft pinks and glitter to match.

To see the full post that this look is inspired by, please visit Milkamenthe's blog post here or click the image above.

Here's a shot of the products used.  I went with a theme of Japanese and Korean cosmetics to match with the Japanese fashion (Korean brands are also pretty popular there, Etude House and TONYMOLY in particular)

- Heroine Make 50+ SPF BB Cream in #01
- Canmake Pressed Powder
- Etude House Secret Beam Highlighter #01
- Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheek Blush in RD414
- Daiso 4 Colour Blush (I used the colours individually as eyeshadows)
- Canmake Pore Wrap Gel
- Diamond Lash Eyelash Glue
- Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara in Black
- Daiso Winmax Eyebrow Pencil in Light Brown
- Sailor Moon Miracle Romance Liquid Eyeliner in Black
- Etude House Tear Drop Eyeshadow in #02 Gold Shimmer
- Daiso False Eyelashes
- Etude House Rosy Tint Lips

And one last photo for good measure!  I think the flowers are a bit too bright for this particular coordinate but I'd love to see the make up and outfit worn together.  Sadly Lindzi and I are now a state apart but we hope to continue doing these posts to mix things up a bit.  I'm very glad to be able to do this as she is one of the people who urged me to get back into blogging and has been a great inspiration for a lot of ideas and styling that I incorporate on my blog too.

For anyone interested in Japanese and Korean cosmetics, one of my favourite sources is Sasa.com which stocks an array of Asian makeup, skincare and other goods.  If you live in QLD, NSW or VIC, you can also visit Daiso as they've started to open stores in Australia.  Whilst their range isn't as large, they generally do have a great selection of cheap false eyelashes which can be really handy.  For those in Adelaide, like me, you can visit Kawaii Fashion on Gouger street, one side of the store is similar to Daiso whilst the other side of the store offers a very reasonable range of Japanese Cosmetics.

LUSH Adelaide Re-Opening Event

Hey Guys, last Friday I got the opportunity to visit the new-look Lush Store in Adelaide and it was lots of fun!  Sadly I didn't get any photos of the outside however not too much had changed in that aspect.  The event began at 5 but there was already a huge line forming at 4:30!
